Bhubaneswar Airport DGM held for allegedly cheating Air Hostess

Bhubaneswar (25/10/2025): The Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Bhubaneswar Airport, Umakant Patel, was arrested for allegedly deceiving an air hostess by hiding his marital status and engaging in an illicit relationship with her. According to reports, Patel was taken into custody on Saturday after a complaint was filed at the Airport Police Station.

He was later produced before the court. Reports suggest that Patel, who was transferred to Bhubaneswar from Delhi about four months ago, had developed a romantic relationship with an air hostess while working in Delhi.

During this period, he allegedly introduced himself as an unmarried man and entered into a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage. When the woman became pregnant, Patel reportedly forced her to undergo an abortion.

Later, both the accused and the woman were posted in Bhubaneswar, where their relationship continued.

Eventually, the woman discovered that Patel was already married and had a child. After confronting him, she was allegedly threatened, following which she approached the police.

A case has been registered against Patel under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
