
Countdown begins for ITTF-ATTU 28th Asian Table Tennis Team Championships in Odisha
Bhubaneswar(06/10/2025): The countdown to the ITTF-ATTU 28th Asian Table Tennis Team Championships officially began today with the grand unveiling of the Championships Trophy by Suryabanshi Suraj, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, who graced the occasion as the chief guest.The ceremony, hosted by the Odisha State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA) at the Athletics Centre of the Kalinga Stadium, showcased the state’s readiness to host its first-ever continental table tennis championship.The glittering trophy, symbolizing the spirit of competition and excellence, was revealed to mark the start of the championship build-up.Following the unveiling, the minister flagged off a specially designed publicity vehicle—adorned with lights and flowers, a playing table, and young paddlers rallying balls—set to tour Bhubaneswar and nearby cities, spreading excitement ahead of the tournament, which kicks off on October 11.The finals are slated for October 15. A trophy tour will be conducted in the coming days featuring the tournament mascot ‘Olly’, which will travel to cities including Puri, Cuttack, and Bhubaneswar, engaging fans and building anticipation for the championship.The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome to the Chief Guest by OSTTA and it’s organising committee members of the 28th ATTC 2025.Distinguished dignitaries present included Sachin Ramachandran Jadav (Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Sports & Youth Services Department), Dr.Yeddula Vijay (Director of Sports and Youth Services Department), Rabindra Parida (Organising Secretary, OSTTA), Jaydith Debata (Joint Organising Secretary, OSTTA), and Technical Director N.Ganeshan.The OSTTA extended its gratitude to the Minister, esteemed guests, and the sports community for their unwavering support in promoting table tennis and reinforcing Odisha’s standing as a powerhouse for hosting world-class sporting events.
